    Key takeaways:

    • Sky Mavis, the team behind Axie Infinity, have launched RON, a governance token of Ethereum’s sidechain the Ronin Network
    • Ronin chain is optimized for high transactional throughput and to facilitate high network workload of NFTs
    • Users who own Axie Infinity NFTs will be eligible to make up to 500 free RON transactions per day

Sky Mavis, the creators and developers of play-to-earn (P2E) sensation Axie Infinity (AXS), have launched a governance token for its Ethereum sidechain the Ronin Network. The RON token will be used to pay for gas fees on Ronin, while providing several decentralized finance (DeFi) extras, including staking and community governance.

Axie Infinity NFT owners get up to 500 free transactions per day

According to Axie Infinity’s announcement post, the company is looking to reward its non-fungible token (NFT) holders – users who hold Axies and land plots in their digital wallets will be able to make up to 500 transactions per day on the Ronin Network free of charge. The rate of free transactions depends on users’ holdings. “Mystic” level Axie and Land owners will benefit the most from the new arrangement, while the owners of “Normal” level NFTs will benefit the least. For the full breakdown of the new system, click here.

Ronin was launched almost a year ago, in February 2021, and has managed to achieve several notable milestones in its short existence. According to blockchain analytics platform Nansen, the Ronin chain processed 560% more transactions than Ethereum in November 2021, while sporting more than 4 times lower block times than its parent network. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that the child chain of Ethereum processed 15% of all NFT volume in 2021.

Roughly 148 million RON are currently in circulation out of the maximum supply of 1 billion tokens. At current market rates, RON’s market capitalization stands at $513 million.

The RON token has received a relatively lackluster reception from the market participants so far. The token is down nearly 20% since its initial trading price on Thursday, and is trading at $3.46 at the time of this writing.

  • Top 4 Platforms on the Klaytn Blockchain

Top 4 Platforms on the Klaytn Blockchain

The Klaytn public blockchain, launched in June 2019, has become a rising star within the web3 space. The many advantages the Klaytn blockchain offers to users include increased throughput for transaction processing, dynamic B’App deployment, and seamless integrations across the board. So much so that the South Korean Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) project is hosted on the Klaytn blockchain. The blockchain’s growth to the 42nd rank at an available supply of 2.63 Billion KLAY, and a market capitalization of $3.17 Billion has made it a favorite for members of the web3 industry.

Developed by Kakao Corp, the internet company that owns South Korea’s largest mobile platform, Klaytn has grown exponentially. It has increased use-case scenarios as developers onboard new projects within and beyond the Korean peninsula. The blockchain is fast becoming a favorite within the web3 industry, paving the way for its ascendancy to the top.

Several projects worthy of mention have taken their place within the Klaytn ecosystem. These projects have called Klaytn home as its developer ecosystem wows the world with new ideas. Here are a few of them.

EverdreamSoft (EDS) Enables Digital Asset Interactivity

One of the earliest blockchain technology development companies, EverdreamSoft (EDS), has pushed the bar for the web3 space. Their products range from the first blockchain mobile game, Spells of Genesis, to its Crystal Spark open-source suite of tools for blockchain and digital asset integration. EverdreamSoft (EDS) also developed the first multichain wallet, Casa Tookan, giving the company a clear advantage in its niche and the web3 industry.

Its contributions to the Klaytn blockchain have enabled developers, users, and fans to have improved and unique interactions across the board. EverdreamSoft (EDS) has also positioned itself as the “go-to” ecosystem on the Klaytn blockchain for plug-and-play tools and platforms for developers needing to focus on individual projects.

This approach has created multi-faceted solutions to the ever-growing and diverse needs web3 participants face all the time.

Kai Protocol Enables The First Algorithmic Stablecoin on the Klaytn Blockchain

The Kai Protocol is an algorithmic stablecoin that has extended the realms of the decentralized finance (DeFi) space even further. Algorithmic stablecoins are a relatively new idea within the web3 industry. They provide adequate supply and demand within ecosystems, thus creating equilibrium within digital ecosystems permissionlessly.

The Kai protocol extends its liquidity into all kinds of B’Apps on the Klaytn blockchain. They range from gaming ecosystems and metaverses to Non-Fungible Token (NFT) marketplaces. The platform exists beyond its immediate ecosystem with the introduction of synthetic assets that derive their value from all kinds of assets, including several stocks.

Kai Protocol staking pools give users the chance to earn yields from different staking rewards. Annual percentage yields (APYs) go beyond the 200% threshold, giving users optimal returns for staking their assets.

KLAYswap Enables Immediate Decentralized Digital Asset Exchange

The KLAYswap Protocol is a decentralized exchange (Dex) protocol that has enabled the real-time transfer of assets across the Klaytn blockchain and beyond. KLAYswap’s on-chain liquidity pool is driven by automated market-making (AMM) protocols, keeping the exchange from growing illiquid or insolvent.

Assets exchanged include native assets and wrapped ones. The Orbit Bridge enables digital asset transfers between the Ethereum and Klaytn ecosystems. KSP, the native token, enables governance and gives token holders all kinds of flexibility within the KLAYswap ecosystem. They get to partake in decision-making activities that involve just about everything. Liquidity mining activities within KLAYswap allow holders to receive KCT tokens as a reward from the genes blocks of mining pools.

As the KLAYswap ecosystem grows and expands, the foundation already in place will provide Kalytn blockchain with an all-in-one Dex that provides users with the ultimate trading experience.

Kronos DAO Enables Decentralized Reserve Currency Treasuries

As a decentralized currency reserve protocol, Kronos DAO creates all kinds of opportunities for automated wealth creation for DAO members via the value increase of its token holdings. By holding the KRNO token against a basket of other tokens, this approach maintains the exchange rate stability of KRNO.

Through staking and minting, token holders earn more tokens and increase their holdings. A unique concept for a DAO, the Kronos development team aims to create community-driven financial models that improve lives and increase the wealth of its members within a transparent framework.

What Are The Future Prospects of The Klaytn Blockchain?

So far, the Klaytn blockchain has proven to be versatile in every use-case deployed. From banking to gaming, the ledger it seems provides benefits not yet seen in the web3 space. Klaytn will hold its own against the older ledgers As a third-generation blockchain. This ecosystem will be the driving force for the greater adoption of web3 technologies.

Its current expansion and foray into new spaces provide proof of this as the world enters a new phase of usage and deployment of web3 technologies. Klaytn has a place in this new phase, and in the future, the blockchain will rule its niche within the industry.

Gal Yosef is a well-known name in the 3D art and NFT community. He is the artist behind the Crypto Bulls Society collection – which sold out immediately upon launch and generated over $50 million in primary sales and market auctions. Furthermore, Gal has worked with Justin Bieber, DJ Steve Aoki, and others. A one-of-a-kind NFT created through such collaborations sold at Sotheby’s for $214,000.

Many consider Gal Yosef to be one of the most influential role models in 3D NFT art, making the launch of his upcoming Meta Eagle Club NFT collection all the more exciting. The collection will feature Yosef’s much-appreciated and well-liked detailed, life-like cartoon-style avatars.

The collaboration between Gal Yosef and the internationally acclaimed art gallery Eden Gallery is a crucial turning point in the NFT industry. Projects from accredited artists are taking center stage. Eden Gallery and Gal Yosef will bring a new vision to NFT art through the Meta Eagle Club and their combined curation skills.

As the first installment of a series of Gal Yosef’s own collections, Meta Eagle Club features a digital art world named Galyverse. The first collection in the Galyverse spans 12,000 captivating eagle avatars. As Gal Yosef explains, the choice for the eagle is straightforward:

“I was searching for a character that could help portray a charismatic avatar, but also one that’s warm and inspiring to others. Depicted as a symbol of freedom in so many different cultures, Eagles, out of the entire animal kingdom, also represent the strong and brave-hearted. Working on the wings and feathers allowed me to soar and explore new heights in 3D art.”

The Meta Eagle Club wants to merge upscale art with community building, exclusive physical gallery events, and an evolving artistic vision. Moreover, the collection will support NFT collectors by bringing physical artwork to Eagle avatar owners. That process is made possible with the help of Eden Gallery and its cutting-edge NFT studio RNSNC.

Other benefits collectors can look forward to will include VIP flights around the globe and to-be-announced aviation-related experiences.

The sale event for Meta Eagle Club will start soon. Interested parties can find more information on how to get whitelisted and how the event timelines shape up on the Official Galyverse Website, the Galyverse Discord, Instagram, and Twitter.

  • Coinbase is Readying For the Launch of Solana Ecosystem Tokens

Coinbase is Readying For the Launch of Solana Ecosystem Tokens

The US-based cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, is reportedly working on expanding its catalog of supported digital assets with the addition of “Solana Program Library” (SPL) tokens.

    Key takeaways:

    • According to CoinDesk, which initially reported the news, Coinbase is working on integrating SPL, which is “a collection of on-chain programs targeting the Sealevel parallel runtime,” according to Solana’s GitHub repository. In essence, SPL fulfills a similar to the ERC-20 token standard on Ethereum.
    • The first asset native to the Solana blockchain that will be listed on Coinbase is reportedly going to be the Solana-based USDC Coin, the second-largest stablecoin in the industry. The total amount of USDC that circulates on Solana is now up to $4.8 billion, up from $2.5 billion last September.
    • Coinbase has recently dramatically changed its strategy when it comes to listing new crypto assets. While the exchange has long been reluctant to list coins other than those with the largest market cap, the trading platform has since changed its approach and has been listing assets at a much faster rate as of late. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong tweeted last June that their aim “is to list *every* asset where it is legal to do so.”
    • Solana is a highly efficient proof-of-stake (PoS) Layer 1 blockchain looking to challenge Ethereum’s dominance in the cryptocurrency space. However, the Solana ecosystem has a long way to go – its biggest token Serum has a market capitalization of $285 million, while Ethereum’s largest token, Shiba Inu, commands an $11.6 billion valuation.
    • According to blockchain analytics firm DeFiLlama, there is currently $7.8 billion worth of digital assets locked on Solana’s chain, compared to Ethereum’s TVL of $118 billion.
    • The reports of Coinbase listing Solana-native tokens were shared with CoinDesk by unnamed sources familiar with the matter. As of yet, Coinbase has made no official announcement about Solana tokens or comments about the reports. However, given its recent track record, the exchange will in all likelihood be onboarding Solana-native assets before long.
  • The Sandbox Commits $50 Million to Invest in Metaverse Startups

The Sandbox Commits $50 Million to Invest in Metaverse Startups

    Key takeaways:

    • Ethereum-based metaverse The Sandbox has partnered with Brinc to invest $50 million in up to 100 metaverse startups
    • A part of the financial backing will be distributed to eligible startups in the form of SAND and LAND
    • The popularity of metaverse-focused projects has skyrocketed in recent months, with companies like Microsoft and Disney joining the space

The rise of blockchain-powered metaverse projects has been one of the major storylines in crypto over the last couple of months. Few projects in the sector have enjoyed as much market success and rapid growth of its userbase as the Ethereum-based virtual multiplayer game The Sandbox. The team behind the highly successful game has now launched a $50 million accelerator program, designed to invest in and mentor metaverse startups.

The Sandbox partners with Brinc for a metaverse push

According to Wednesday’s press release, The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based gaming and venture capital company Animoca Brands, plans to invest $50 million in various gaming and non-gaming metaverse projects over the next three years.

The Sandbox has partnered with global venture accelerator Brinc for the newly launched incubator program that is slated to start in the second quarter of 2022, after the initial set of applications gets reviewed. The gaming company will offer gaming expertise along with mentorship, education, and development support to up to 100 startups in the sector.

Some of the financial support will come in the form of digital assets, namely up to $150,000 per project in the platform’s native governance token SAND- Projects will also be eligible to revere LAND token grants, which are The Sandbox’s tokenized virtual plots of land.

“The core directive of The Sandbox Metaverse Accelerator Program is to support the launch of new startups that can contribute to the growth and expansion of The Sandbox ecosystem by building unique experiences and populating the platform with fresh creativity and new content.”

The Sandbox will not pursue investment exclusively in gaming-focused metaverse projects, but plans to invest across the full spectrum of metaverse categories, ranging from online commerce to social media-focused solutions. Additionally, the accelerator program will not seek to invest exclusively in startups that are tied to the Ethereum ecosystem.

    The metaverse sector is booming

Ever since Facebook announced its rebrand to Meta last October and notably showcased its commitment to the novel concept, the interest in blockchain- and non-blockchain-powered metaverses skyrocketed.

The Sandbox, GALA, and Axie Infinity are arguably the top three metaverse projects in crypto, combining play-to-earn (P2E) crypto mechanics with vast virtual worlds The trio has shown stellar results last year, with native tokens of all three finishing the year among the largest yearly gainers – for reference, GALA gained 388x, AXS 167x, and SAND 158x during the span of 2021.

The metaverse trend has taken hold in the traditional gaming sector as well. Last week, Microsoft announced a $68.7 billion acquisition of gaming giant Activision Blizzard. Chairman and CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella said that the move “will play a key role in the development of metaverse platforms.”

At the tail end of 2021, Disney was approved for a patent that would allow it to combine virtual reality elements with physical reality, which could mean that a theme park metaverse might be in the pipeline.

  • Skillz Joins Tezos Ecosystem as a Corporate Baker Using Scaleway Cloud

Skillz Joins Tezos Ecosystem as a Corporate Baker Using Scaleway Cloud

    Paris, France, 27th January, 2022,

Today, SkillZ, the European leader in Staking-as-a-Service, has formally announced that it has expanded its involvement within the Tezos ecosystem as a corporate baker. By officially becoming a baker, SkillZ will now validate transactions and add them to the Tezos blockchain.

SkillZ joins the growing number of global enterprises electing to become block validators on Tezos. Becoming a baker is one of the best ways to become acclimated to the network and incentivizes its active participation in Tezos’ development. Being a baker allows enterprises to personally vouch for the security and verifiability of the network and exemplifies a corporation’s applying a forward-thinking, scalable investment in bleeding-edge technology.

“Adding support for Tezos is in line with our mission to bring staking to institutional investors, offering them the opportunity to bake through our public validator or our white-label offering for exchanges, custodians, wallets or crypto institutions. Furthermore, as the leading European institutional staking provider, we chose Scaleway as our infrastructure partner to ensure sovereignty, top performance and energy efficiency in our service,” said Laszlo Szabo, CEO of Skillz.

Scaleway, the multi-cloud service provider for SkillZ and many other startups and cloud native projects, is catering to the global market with the essential mix of cloud computing resources that is flexible, cost effective, reliable, secure and sustainably powered.

“We are thrilled to see SkillZ deploy its service in our cloud infrastructure, thereby adding geopolitical and sovereign resilience to its web3 value proposition, also leveraging our energy efficient data-center Par-2,” said Yann Lechelle, CEO of Scaleway.

Tezos is an open-source platform that addresses key barriers facing blockchain adoption for assets and applications backed by a global community of validators, researchers, and builders. Tezos is the world’s most advanced and energy efficient blockchain, using proof of stake technology which has an exponentially lower impact on the environment than proof of work technology, used by other market-leaders. In 2021 alone, the Tezos network processed over 50 million transactions with the energy consumption equivalent to 17 global citizens.

With this announcement, SkillZ is making a strategic decision to utilize a protocol anchored in French scientific research, energy-efficient and whose implementation is facilitated both by its open-source philosophy and by Nomadic Labs’ technical support. SkillZ has launched delegations services around Tezos and seeks to become a pro-active participant of the Tezos ecosystem. SkillZ also offers companies to become corporate bakers themselves, through their own nodes, easily deployed with our SaaS application.

“We are particularly delighted to welcome SkillZ as a corporate baker to the Tezos ecosystem; considering the strategic interest of a baker relying on the Scaleway sovereign cloud, with significant ability to scale the node deployment for Tezos,” said Thibaut Chessé, Adoption Manager in France at Nomadic Labs.

FTX US Crypto Exchange Concludes $400M Series A, Now Valued at $8 Billion

FTX US, the US-based arm of the international FTX cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the closing of its first funding round. The recently concluded round saw FTX US raise $400 million, valuing the company at $8 billion.

    Key takeaways:

    • “FTX US scaled rapidly throughout the course of 2021, and our Series A valuation reflects both what we’ve concretely accomplished and what we’ve laid the groundwork for in 2022,” remarked on impressive Series A President of FTX US Bret Harrison.
    • The funding round saw participation from a number of prominent corporate investors, including Paradigm, SoftBank, and Temasek, to name a few.
    • According to the company’s press release, the newly acquired capital will be used to grow the exchange’s userbase, expand its derivatives offering, and to launch new products and services.
    • Harrison commented on the importance of working with regulators and said that “FTX US will emerge as the leading US-regulated crypto spot and derivatives exchange.” To this end, FTX US has recently inked a sponsorship deal with Washington-based sports organizations to increase the exchange’s favor among the regulators.
    • The exchange’s parent company FTX raised more than $420 million in last October’s Series B, which increased the company’s valuation to $25 billion. Earlier in the month, FTX launched a $2 billion investment fund with the intention of growing global blockchain adoption and advancing the Web3 sector.
    • FTX’s native exchange token FTT gained 4.53% on the news and set a new cycle high of $38.43 earlier today.
  • OpenSea Might Be Integrating Solana NFTs, Adding Support for Phantom Wallet

OpenSea Might Be Integrating Solana NFTs, Adding Support for Phantom Wallet

    Key takeaways:

    • Prominent blogger and hacker Jane Manchun Wong found clues of a potential Solana integration by reverse-engineering the OpenSea website
    • Leaked screenshots show the option for the popular Solana wallet, Phantom, and display Solana among the current selection of available chains on OpenSea
    • NFT market has exploded in the past year, generating over $23 billion in trading volume

While the world’s largest NFT marketplace, OpenSea, is primarily hosting digital collections created on Ethereum, newly-leaked screenshots suggest that support for Solana-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs) might be coming soon.

Renowned hacker found evidence for Solana support in OpenSea’s hidden code

Jane Manchun Wong, a prominent blogger and hacker who earned her fame by uncovering hidden features buried in the code of some of the more popular online products and services, has shared her findings on OpenSea’s Solana integration in a Tuesday’s Twitter post.

The leaked OpenSea screenshots show support for the widely-used Solana wallet, Phantom, while also displaying Solana among the list of supported blockchains, next to Ethereum, Polygon, and Klaytn.

Talking to Decrypt, Wong unveiled that she managed to acquire the images by reverse-engineering the OpenSea’s webpage and added that whoever was working on the new features went to great lengths to “try to hide it.”

OpenSea spokesperson told Decrypt that Wong’s revelation is “old speculation,” and said that the leading NFT marketplace will share further information about Solana integration “when we have something to say.”

NFTs exploded in 2021, the trend continues this year

According to blockchain analytics firm DappRadar, the NFT market generated more than $23 billion in trading volume in 2021, with the vast majority of NFT activity taking place on the Ethereum blockchain. In the first three weeks of 2022, NFT trading volume on Ethereum surpassed $9.5 billion, while Solana-based NFT activity generated “only” $157 million, according to data from The Block.

The growing popularity of NFTs has led to OpenSea having its best month to date only two weeks into January, handily beating previous trading volume, user activity, and fee-generated records from last August. Additionally, the recently concluded $300 million financing round has raised the Silicon Valley startup’s value to more than $13.3 billion.

Earlier today, YouTube CEO wrote in a letter to the community that the video-streaming giant is considering adding support for NFTs. The news comes a week after Twitter unveiled deeper NFT integration on its platform, and the announcement of Meta’s Facebook working on NFT features.
