Why Use Binance Loans to Access Additional Crypto Liquidity?

    binance cryptocurrency loans cover

Cryptocurrency loans can be a useful and lucrative method for blockchain users to gain access to additional capital to pursue various investment opportunities in the crypto space, such as crypto staking, spot market trading, and various derivatives trading options.

Binance offers one of the most comprehensive crypto loan offerings in the industry, both in terms of the sheer number of cryptocurrencies supported and in terms of advanced features such as loan staking.

Here is a quick overview of Binance Loans’ main advantages and disadvantages:

    Pros of Binance Loans:

    • User crypto holdings as collateral to take out crypto loans
    • Renting out a crypto loan requires only a couple of clicks
    • Low-interest rates and no penalty fees associated with early repayment
    • More than 60 borrowable cryptocurrencies and 25 types of crypto collateral
    • Decrease service fees with loan staking assets

    Cons of Binance Loans:

    • The maximum loan duration is 180 days
    • 2% liquidation fee is applied if a loan is not repaid in the allotted time

Let’s take a closer look at Binance Loans’ core features, benefits, and the process of obtaining a crypto-backed loan.

What is the Binance Loans service?

Binance Loans is a cryptocurrency loan platform that allows users to stake their crypto assets as collateral to gain access to additional capital. The platform lets users take out a loan in dozens of different digital currencies, ranging from industry-leading Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), DeFi-centric coins like Polkadot (DOT) and Kava (KAVA), metaverse and gaming-oriented The Sandbox (SAND) and Decentraland (MANA), to popular stablecoins like Tether (USDT) and Binance USD (BUSD).

In exchange for a loan, users must supply their existing spot digital assets as collateral, which ensures the loan is secured and allows Binance to charge low-interest rates on loaned crypto. For more information about the importance of crypto collateral when taking out a crypto loan, click here.

Contrary to their traditional counterparts, crypto loans don’t require consumers to fill out lengthy legal forms or provide credit scores – instead, the entire process takes minutes and requires only a few clicks.

What are the benefits of Binance Loans?

In addition to the user-friendly interface, low-cost service, and numerous supported cryptocurrencies, Binance Loans boasts several features that make it stand out from other similar offerings in the industry.

    Flexible loan duration terms

With Binance Loans, users can decide between five loan duration options, depending on their needs and goals. The loan duration terms that are available on Binance include 7, 14, 30, 90, and 180-day options.

Early loan repayment incurs no additional charges

The loan amount can be repaid in part or in full before the loan duration reaches its allotted time. In practice, this means that a loan can be repaid at any point in time before the loan duration runs out without having to pay any early repayment fees.

Reduce interest rates with loans staking

Loans staking is a feature that allows tokens used as collateral to be used to support operations of their respective blockchain platforms via staking. The rewards generated by staking are employed to cover the cost of Binance Loans’ interest rates. In some cases – such as with Avalanche (AVAX) and PancakeSwap (CAKE) – the hourly and daily interest rates can be reduced to zero.

No strings attached to borrowed funds

Digital assets secured via Binance Loans can be used in the same way as any other cryptocurrency in a user’s account. They can be used for spot and derivatives trading purposes, decentralized finance (DeFi) use cases like token staking, and even transferred to external blockchain wallets. The only thing a user must be concerned about is repaying the loan before the loan duration expires.

    How to use Binance Loans?

Taking out a cryptocurrency-backed loan with Binance Loans is simple, fast, and accessible even to those who lack extensive knowledge about crypto. If you want to obtain a crypto loan on Binance, follow our step-by-step guide below.

Step 1 – Login to your Binance account and navigate to Binance Loans

Navigate to the Binance Loans product by going to the Binance homepage, and then select the “Crypto Loans” option from the “Finance” dropdown menu.

Step 2 – Select the cryptocurrency and amount you wish to borrow

Select the cryptocurrency and amount you want to borrow. Proceed by selecting the collateral type and the loan term duration. Click “Start Borrowing Now” once you are ready.

    Binance Loans dashboard

With a loan-to-value ratio (LTV) of 65% – as is the case when borrowing BTC with BUSD – you will get $325 worth of BTC by supplying $500 worth of BUSD as collateral. In most cases, Binance is offering the initial LTV of 65%, however, the final ratio depends on the underlying volatility of borrowed and collateral assets used.

Step 3 – Confirm cryptocurrency loan order

Once greeted with the popup informing you about the crypto loan order, tick the box next to the Binance Loan Service Agreement link and click “Confirm” to borrow funds.

    Binance Loans confirmation popup

Binance charges very competitive rates for its cryptocurrency loan service. In the case of borrowing $325 worth of BTC using $500 BUSD as collateral for the duration of 7 days, you would have to pay the total interest amount of roughly 20 cents worth of BTC. It is worth noting that interest rates and maximum loan amount differ based on the cryptocurrency borrowed and collateral type.

    Closing thoughts

Binance Loans can be an excellent choice for those who are looking to take out a crypto loan using their existing digital asset holdings as collateral. The user-friendly product boasts low costs, numerous features, and supports the vast majority of major crypto assets. Hopefully, this article answered all of your questions about Binance Loans and helped you decide whether you should give it a try.

  • Vasil Upgrade for Cardano Network Postponed Until End of July

Vasil Upgrade for Cardano Network Postponed Until End of July

    Cardano (ADA) cryptocurrency image cover

    Key takeaways:

    • Performance upgrade for Cardano dubbed Vasil has been delayed by about a month
    • The Vasil hard fork will introduce a reduced transaction size and higher network throughput
    • Vasil is expected to go live on the mainnet in the last week of July

Users will have to wait until the end of next month for “massive performance improvement to Cardano”

The creators of Cardano, Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK), announced earlier this week that the much-anticipated hard fork for the blockchain network has been delayed by about a month. The so-called Vasil upgrade, which was supposed to roll out on June 29 is now expected to launch sometime during the last week of July.

According to the blog post, the core Cardano developer team decided against testing the upgraded Cardano capabilities on the testnet, due to seven outstanding bugs. However, the team also said they have completed “approx 95%” of Plutus v2 test scripts and added that they are “extremely close to finalizing the core work.”

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of IOHK and Cardano, revealed in a recent YouTube stream that the Vasil upgrade is slated to bring “massive performance improvement to Cardano.” This includes a number of new Cardano network improvement proposals (CIP31, CIP32, CIP33, and CIP40), which will reduce the size of transactions and make the network more efficient and capable of processing more data transfers. In short, the Vasil hard fork is designed to enhance the smart contract functionality of the Cardano blockchain, first introduced to the mainchain via the Alonzo hard fork last September.

Once the Vasil upgrade goes live on the testnet, which is supposed to take place later in June, it will take another “four weeks for exchanges and SPOs to carry out any required integration and testing work.” After the extensive testing is done and bugs ironed out, the Vasil hard fork will go live on the mainnet.

  • Monster Racing League Puts Fun at the Forefront in P2E NFT games

Monster Racing League Puts Fun at the Forefront in P2E NFT games

    monster racing league

P2E NFT games often focus heavily on the financial aspect. Much effort is put into the development of mechanics that can be utilized to earn and increase profits. However, not much thought goes into actually making the games fun.

Making money can be fun in itself, but why not enhance it with having fun playing the game as well? This is the question the New Zealand based studio, Flightless, asked themselves. The result? Monster Racing League, an amazing and interactive P2E experience with fun at the forefront that launches their first wave of minting on Friday the 24th of June.

    What is Monster Racing League?

Monster Racing League is a P2E multiplayer racing NFT game developed by Flightless and their publisher: Phat Loot Studio. Together, they decided to put the fun back in P2E games for good.

In this game, you take control of your very own monster and its racing car. You have the task of making sure that your monster is equipped with abilities and boosters that will give it the advantage that wins it the race. If your monster wins the race, you will receive a prize in the form of the project’s ecosystem’s utility token: KBT. If you have a hard time winning, worry not! You will still get a prize for participating and keeping the game alive.

When you start to better know your monster and its strengths and weaknesses, you will begin to win more races. Once that happens, you will start to rank up and compete against players of similar skill.

Monster Racing League also has a full breeding program with a proprietary chromosomal breeding system. This allows you to create monsters with different speed, skill, smart stats, different colors, and visual traits.

    Why fun is so important

The human mind is at its most stimulated and active stage when you’re having fun. Having fun inspires us, makes us want to do things, and generally have a better life overall.

On the other hand, it is also important when you want to promote NFTs to the general public. It is important to show that NFTs aren’t just an investment or a way to earn money – it is also a cultural phenomenon with plenty of use cases and opportunities.

Monster Racing League has this at its core, and it wants everyone to enjoy it. You don’t even need an NFT to play. But of course, without a staked NFT, you can’t earn any rewards.

monster racing league join the tribe

Keeping the fun alive for the future

Flightless has many plans for the future to ensure that Monster Racing League stays fun and enjoyable for everyone. This is incredible work as the game hasn’t even launched yet!

After launch we can expect tournaments and special events that brings the community closer together and that offers plenty of prizes for those good enough to seize them.

Next year, in 2023, the game will be significantly expanded. New tracks, new cosmetics, new events and much more will be added. There is a lot to look forward to, and there is no doubt that Friday the 24th of June will be a day of celebration to remember.

  • How to Buy Stablecoins with Credit Card on Binance in 5 Easy Steps

How to Buy Stablecoins with Credit Card on Binance in 5 Easy Steps

Binance cryptocurrency exchange BNB binance cover

    Key Takeaways

    • Stablecoins are important in the crypto market and they come in different classes and offer several benefits
    • It is possible to buy stablecoins with credit cards
    • Binance is one of the best places to buy stablecoins
    • In five simple steps, you can buy stablecoins from Binance with your credit card

Stablecoins are very important in the cryptocurrency market. They offer a high level of stability in a market that is notoriously volatile. They also bring liquidity and volume to the market. Stablecoins also allow traders to move fast in the crypto market, serving as media to move assets quickly and easily. Regardless of your experience or position in the market, there are many benefits you can derive from stablecoins.

Are you planning to buy stablecoins anytime soon? Do you know you can do that with a credit card? Yes, credit cards serve as one of the major payment methods to buy crypto, along with fiat deposits and e-wallets. For most people, credit cards offer the easiest path to owning cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins.

To ensure that this article is as helpful as possible, we will discuss some of the most important things you need to know about stablecoins before providing a detailed guide on how you can buy them with credit cards in five simple steps.

    What Are Stablecoins?

Stablecoins are a class of cryptocurrencies that have their values tied to an outside asset for the sake of stability. Unlike unpegged cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, stablecoins are designed to offer price stability. A stablecoin can be pegged against a fiat currency like the U.S. dollar, a reserve commodity like Gold, or another high-value cryptocurrency.

Stablecoins maintain price stability because they are backed by the specific asset they are tied to. When an organization issues a stablecoin, for instance, it is required to set up a reserve at a financial institution to hold the underlying asset. The value of the stablecoin issued is not expected to surpass the value of the asset kept in reserve. This helps to keep the price of the stablecoin relatively stable.

    The 4 Types of Stablecoins

Stablecoins are of different types, though they share the same fundamental principle. There are four different types of stablecoins and we will briefly explain them right away:

    Commodity Backed Stablecoins

As the name suggests, commodity-backed stablecoins are cryptocurrencies pegged against a commodity or physical assets such as gold and other acceptable precious metals, oil, and real estate. Of course, gold is the most collateralized commodity in this asset class. Examples of commodity-backed stablecoins are Tether Gold (XAUT) and Pax Gold (PAXG).

    Fiat Collateralized Stablecoins

Fiat collateralized stablecoins are cryptocurrencies that are pegged against fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar and Euro. It is the most popular class of stablecoins. The U.S. dollar is also the most collateralized fiat currency in the crypto universe. Some examples of this type of stablecoins are Tether (USDT), TrueUSD (TUSD), and Binance USD (BUSD).

    Algorithmic Stablecoins

Algorithmic stablecoins are stablecoins that are not particularly pegged to any asset class, rather, their price stability results from the use of specialized algorithms and smart contracts. An algorithm stablecoin tracks the price of a fiat currency, though it is not backed by the currency. The system automatically manages the circulatory supply of the stablecoin in response to price changes.

    Cryptocurrency Backed Stablecoins

As the name clearly suggests, these are stablecoins that are pegged against other cryptocurrencies. In other words, these stablecoins are backed by other cryptocurrencies. In most cases, this class of stablecoins are not dependent on central issuers. Rather, the system employs smart contracts and depends on individual users to put their cryptocurrencies into the smart contract (as collateral) to generate stablecoins and then return the stablecoins to the original smart contract to withdraw the same collateral amount at any given time.

    The Main Benefits of Stablecoins

As mentioned in the introductory part of this post, stablecoins are incredibly helpful and beneficial in the cryptocurrency universe. Here are some of the prominent benefits they offer:

Price Stability in a Volatile Market

The first and most obvious benefit offered by stablecoins is price stability in a rather volatile market. As we all know, cryptocurrencies are generally volatile and rightly considered risky. Stablecoins bring price stability, which helps many traders to manage risks.

Quick and Easy Way to Trade and Move Assets within the Crypto Market

Stablecoins help active traders and investors to make quick moves when the need arises. Since their value can neither rise nor drop suddenly, traders can use them to move assets easily and complete trades faster without wasting days trying to deposit fiat currencies. It offers improved convenience and flexibility.

    Interest-Yielding Assets

Stablecoins are incredibly beneficial to users who intend to earn interest with their crypto investment. While they can’t gain value quickly like volatile assets, they yield reasonable interest when used for lending and staking activities. With Binance, for instance, traders can buy Binance USD and generate compound interest through Binance Earn. There are several other ways to generate interest and passive income from stablecoins.

    Top 3 Most Popular Stablecoins

Are you considering buying stablecoins anytime soon? Then you need to know the popular ones that are considered reliable. Here are three of the most popular stablecoins:

    Tether (USDT)

Tether is undoubtedly the most popular stablecoin. It is pegged against the U.S. dollar, so the price is approximately $1 at all times. Its market cap stands at $66.90 Billion at the time of writing.

    Binance USD (BUSD)

Binance USD is among the most popular stablecoins. It is also pegged against the U.S. dollar and its market cap stands at $17.55 Billion at the time of writing.

    USD Coin (USDC)

USD Coin is another incredibly popular stablecoin pegged against the U.S. dollar, also. Its market capitalization at the time of writing was $55.86 billion.

    Key takeaways:

    • Magic Eden raised $130 million at a $1.6 billion valuation during its Series B funding round
    • Launched in September 2021, Magic Eden has quickly grown to become the largest NFT marketplace on Solana
    • NFT activity on Solana is showing positive momentum despite the recent crypto downturn

Magic Eden NFT transactions hit record numbers in June despite the crypto downturn

Magic Eden, the largest non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace on Solana (SOL), has raised $130 million in its Series B financing round that was co-led by Electric Capital and Greylock Ventures. According to the official announcement, the company was raising capital at a $1.6 billion validation.

The Magic Eden marketplace has been one of the success stories of 2022. Since its launch last September, the company has expanded beyond more than 100 people globally and became the leading place to trade NFTs and launch new digital collectibles and blockchain games on Solana. Magic Eden surpassed the $1 billion secondary trading volume milestone in March, the same month as the company concluded the $27 million Series A funding round.

Magic Eden CEO Jack Lu spoke about the company’s financing round and the role of NFTs in the industry:

“We know that NFTs are the best way to bring people onto the blockchain. They’re exciting, social, and cultural experiences that bring connectivity to the world. We’re thrilled to have the continued support of our investors and community and look forward to onboarding the next billion users to Web3.”

According to blockchain data tracking firm DappRadar, Magic Eden saw more than $421 million in trading volume in the past 30 days. In addition, the number of active users reached 288,000, which represents more than a 3% month-over-month increase. At the same time, the total number of transactions increased by 40% to 13.1 million.

Magic Eden’s trading figures come in stark contrast to the largest NFT marketplace OpenSea, which saw a 57% drop in transaction volume in the past month. It is worth noting that while Ethereum and Polygon NFT transactions were down considerably, Solana NFTs on OpenSea saw a 78% increase over the second half of May and the first two weeks of June.

  • AT ART BASEL, MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER NFTS THE HERO 25FPS ON TEZOS

AT ART BASEL, MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER NFTS THE HERO 25FPS ON TEZOS

LONDON, UK, 22nd June, 2022, Chainwire

At Art Basel, world renowned performance artist Marina Abramović announced in a panel discussion that she will launch her first ever NFTs titled The Hero 25FPS on the energy-efficient Tezos blockchain July 25th, 2022. This one-of-a-kind performance on the blockchain, presented in collaboration with the Cultural Institute of Radical Contemporary Art (CIRCA), depicts the figure of a steadfast woman astride a white horse holding a white flag that is waving gracefully in the wind, over the expansive landscape of trees and sky in Spain. The Hero 25FPS (frames per second) offers an opportunity to collect time and holds a symbolic charge as it is set against today’s backdrop of global instability, escalating conflict and climate breakdown.

For this performance on the blockchain, Abramović is revisiting one of her most personal and autobiographical works titled The Hero (2001), which is appearing every evening this summer across the CIRCA global network of screens in London, Seoul, Milan, Berlin, Japan and New York City (Times Square). Originally filmed at 25 frames per second, never before seen footage commissioned by the Fundación NMAC showing the artist holding a white flag astride a white horse has been separated into thousands of unique single frames to create The Hero 25FPS NFTs, with each frame dramatically influenced by the changing wind.

This July, Abramović will invite the public to experience time through collecting either single unique frame NFTs (.JPG) or multiple unique frame NFTs (.GIF) on the Tezos blockchain. Expanding the concept of time-based media for a Web3 audience, this collaborative performance will engage thousands of NFT collectors with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of owning an affordable NFT by one of the world’s most famous performance artists, whilst also supporting the wider Web3 community.

The work will be part of an unprecedented three-month CIRCA presentation, and a global call for courageous heroes at a pivotal moment in our collective history.

“Our planet needs uncorrupted heroes with morality, who embody courage and bring real change. Every day in this world is a shaky, uncertain, constantly changing landscape. For CIRCA 2022, we have this white horse. This white flag. This beautiful land. We need heroes that can bring new light to illuminate us. Heroes that can inspire us to be better, and to work together, not against each other. Heroes who care,” said Marina Abramović.

This performance of co-creation between Marina, CIRCA and NFT collectors on the Tezos blockchain will provide thousands of people with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of owning accessible NFTs by one of the world’s most famous performance artists, while also supporting creators around the world.

Marina has highlighted the importance that her NFTs be both accessible and environmentally friendly, which is why she chose to mint The Hero 25FPS on the Tezos blockchain: “Energy consumption is really important. I don’t want it to be” said Abramović when speaking about NFTs at Art Basel.

Tezos’ energy-efficient design, low costs for minting and collecting NFTs, have attracted a diverse, global community of artists, collectors, and builders. Tezos is the home of major NFT platforms such as fx(hash), objkt.com, teia.art, and versum.xyz leading more artists to choose to create and collect on Tezos than ever before.

“I didn’t do NFTs for a while, because I needed to find for myself the right content that really works” said Marina. Pushing the boundaries between audience and artist, this July Abramović will invite the public to experience time through collecting either single unique frame NFTs (.JPG) or multiple unique frame NFTs (.GIF) to co-create and determine how The Hero 25FPS is minted on the Tezos blockchain.

What’s more, Marina Abramović has also partnered with CIRCA to create the HERO Grant, a new initiative that aims to support and amplify the work of activists and changemakers in the Web3 community. A percentage of the funds raised from The Hero 25FPS NFTs will be circulated back into the Tezos Web3 community in the form of grants from this initiative. Candidates are invited to complete the application form here to apply.

“I want to just talk about something that is so interesting about the Web3 space, and this young generation of  people who work with NFTs. In the beginning, the older generation of artists likes to ridicule them and likes to think that this is nonsense, this is just bullshit. Same would happen to me in the 70s” said Marina Abramović. “Say to the young kids in Web3, just don’t give up, because you’re the future, you have the vision.”

Expanding on the HERO Grant dedicated to heroes in the Web3 space at Art Basel, Marina Abramović said: “We need people with a vision that can bring new light, that we can really look up to and look at their morality and be inspired. We need real heroes right now”.

Blockchain Basics – What Is Liquidity in The World of Crypto

bitcoin and ethereum on blue background

In simple terms, liquidity is a measure of how easily a given asset can be turned into a fiat or another asset. If you’ve got the world’s rarest painting, you’re going to have a hard time finding a buyer without contacting individuals that specialize in rare paintings. On the other hand, if you want to trade $100 for the equivalent in euros, it’ll probably only take you 15 minutes to the nearest bank.

Good liquidity describes an asset, such as US dollars, which can be easily exchanged for other assets. You can hop online and trade US dollars for a car in a matter of minutes. With rare paintings, however, it’ll take a lot before someone’s willing to trade their car for the painting.

The same concept applies to crypto. A high liquidity cryptocurrency is one that can be easily traded, while one that is more difficult to trade is lower liquidity. A great example of high liquidity is stablecoins, since much of crypto trading is already done in stablecoins, they’re very liquid.

Why is liquidity important for a crypto project?

There’s a wide degree of variation in the liquidity of cryptoassets. These are mostly a product of trading volume(the volume of trading activities done over a period of time) and market efficiency(which reflects how well current prices describe the actual value of the asset.)

Cryptoassets with only a few trades per day are relatively illiquid. On the other hand, giants like Bitcoin and Ethereum are traded tens of thousands of times a day, making them highly liquid.

The biggest reason liquidity matters is because the value of a cryptoasset can go up or down over the time it takes for you to complete a trade. For example, if a relatively illiquid altcoin jumped 30% over the course of a day, and you tried to sell at the higher price, your trade might not get completed until the next day, by which the value could have dropped.

Similarly, if you attempt a large trade of an illiquid cryptoasset, you’ll encounter high slippage. This is a term that denotes the difference between the price you intended to trade at, and the price the trade is executed at. While this can be halted with limit orders, you then re-encounter the above issue.

Since crypto projects want their tokens to be valuable and easily tradable, low liquidity is highly undesirable. In order to avoid this, they’ve adopted a number of solutions.

    How do DEXs handle liquidity?

One solution to the issue of liquidity is to have a centralized “agent” that will fulfill buy/sell orders at a given price at all times. This is the approach taken by centralized exchanges (CEX) like Binance or Kraken. While this approach is functional, it carries over all of the problems that come with centralization in finance.

Another way to provide liquidity is to replace this centralized agent with a decentralized equivalent. These are decentralized exchanges (DEX) such as Uniswap or PancakeSwap. These exchanges generally rely on liquidity pools(among other things) to provide liquidity.

A liquidity pool is just a smart contract that locks tokens in order to provide liquidity. These pools can provide liquidity in addition to facilitating borrowing and lending currencies.

Liquidity pools are used not only by decentralized exchanges to swap tokens, but also for borrowing and lending activities. As such, they play an important role in the DeFi ecosystem.

    How does OraiDEX handle liquidity?

OraiDEX is a CosmWasm-based decentralized exchange with multichain support, excellent speed, and a variety of liquidity options for its users. This exchange is a great example of how a crypto project can ensure high liquidity.

For example, OraiDEX just launched ORAIX, the governance token of the exchange. This governance token will allow people that hold it to participate in votes on where the platform is headed.

Now, OraiDEX wants its token to be as liquid as possible, so its holder could get their money’s worth. In order to ensure that, they’ve implemented a couple of distinct steps:

    • Allowing users to directly swap ORAIX with other tokens like LUNA and OSMO with a small(0.3%) fee.
    • A large liquidity pool of diverse tokens totaling over $600,000.
    • Providing liquidity mining opportunities. This is a process where holders of ORAIX can lend their tokens to OraiDEX and receive a reward.

These 3 steps ensure that ORAIX will be easier to trade upon its release.

    How does LunaFi handle liquidity?

LunaFi is another great example of a DeFi platform taking an innovative approach to ensure liquidity. This DeFi betting protocol allows you to put your money and invest in the house, while ensuring all of its users are always paid correctly and on time.

LunaFi makes the user themselves help with liquidity. It does this by allowing you to provide liquidity to the house’s crypto pool, and if the house wins, you win too. LunaFi also incorporates liquidity pools and yield farming as ways to maximize its token’s liquidity.

This is a much safer way to engage in betting, as everything is governed via smart contract, and there’s no room for human error. It also takes an extremely innovative approach in relying on its users to provide some liquidity.

    Closing Words

Liquidity is one of the most important concepts to understand in the crypto world. Whether you’re looking to invest in a token, or start a crypto project of your own, having a solid grasp of liquidity can help you avoid common beginner pitfalls. Generally speaking, high liquidity is good, as it ensures you have an easy time trading your assets for other assets. The main ways liquidity is attained is through a crypto asset’s high trading volume, liquidity pools, a centralized agent, or by giving privileges for holding the token.

    Key takeaways:

    • Tether has announced it will be launching the British Pound Sterling (GBP) pegged stablecoin dubbed GBPT
    • GBPT is slated to go live in July, initially on the Ethereum network
    • Tether has launched a Mexican Peso-pegged MXNT last month

Tether is expanding its offering of fiat-pegged stablecoins with the British pound pegged GBPT

Tether, the issuer of the world’s largest market cap stablecoin USDT, has announced on Wednesday it is launching a new stable digital currency. Pegged to the British pound, GPBT will be fully redeemable for the underlying fiat currency at a 1:1 ratio. The stablecoin is slated to launch in July, initially on the Ethereum network.

The news of Tether’s new stablecoin comes less than a month after the company launched a Mexican Peso-pegged stablecoin MXNT as a response to the growing rate of cryptocurrency usage in Latin America.

In addition to MXNT and GBPT, Tether operates the U.S. dollar-pegged USDT, the euro-pegged EURT, and the offshore Chinese Yuan-pegged CNHT. USDT boasts by far the largest market cap in Tether’s stablecoin offering, with the total value of all USDT in circulation of more than $66 billion. For context, the combined market cap value of Tether’s other fiat-pegged digital currencies is less than $50 million.

Tether CTO Paolo Ardoino commented on the upcoming launch of the British Sterling Pound stablecoin in a statement:

“We believe that the United Kingdom is the next frontier for blockchain innovation and the wider implementation of cryptocurrency for financial markets. We hope to help lead this innovation by providing cryptocurrency users worldwide with access to a GBP-denominated stablecoin issued by the largest stablecoin issuer.”

Ardoino added that Tether is prepared to cooperate with the country’s financial regulators to make the “continued adoption of Tether stablecoins” a reality.

In related news, Tether announced the launch of USDT on the Polygon blockchain at the end of May. With the addition of the leading Ethereum Layer 2 solution, USDT became available on 11 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Algorand, and Tron, to name a few.
